Harmony Day . . . Everyone Belongs

Image
Harmony Day is a special day in Australia, celebrated annually on 21st March, to recognize and appreciate cultural diversity. This day is celebrated across the country and is an opportunity for Australians to reflect on and embrace the rich multicultural heritage of their society. Harmony Day has its roots in the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is observed globally on 21st March each year. The Australian Government adopted the concept of Harmony Day in 1999, as a way to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions of the people who make up the country. The theme for Harmony Day 2023 is “Everyone Belongs” which aims to promote social cohesion, respect, and a sense of belonging for all. Why do we study Mathematics?

Image
Why do we study Mathematics? Mathematics is useful …it is an essential part of our culture and education. We use it to understand the developments which are going on in the world around us. For example: consider the statistics and figures related to COVID-19. Many of the important world developments, which will also directly affect our daily lives, can only be understood through a grasp of mathematical principles linked with scientific investigation. Mathematics will also help you in such matters as interpreting social and economic experiences. For example: environmental problems can be qualified by statistics and graphs; the value of peace can be emphasized through the statistical analysis of the world’s arms expenditure or the awesome, destructive power of nuclear weapons; and the ability to the keep an accurate account of your own income and expenses can help you grow habits of benevolence, thrift, self-reliance, conservation of resources, and economic efficiency. The good news is, there are some AWESOME lunch box ideas out there, so I thought I’d share some here for you as well. I obviously don’t need to worry about lunch boxes too much myself as we school from home – our lunches will be the usual soups, leftovers, salads, smoothies, bunless burgers, chocolate banana ice cream, and whatever else I happen to be testing in the kitchen for the day! But I DO remember the stress of getting the kids out the door and to the ...

Why Distance Education - A Parent's Point of View At Jubilee Christian College, we have been boasting for years about the clear advantages of Distance Education for families and for students alike.  Research very clearly shows that when families choose Distance Education, there is an increase in children's confidence in learning and independence, as well as more parental involvement and enhanced understanding of their children's learning.  Distance Education allows families more flexibility in their schedules and time frames, which is appreciated by families both in rural and residential areas. However, you don't just have to take our word for it. We recently had an opportunity to spend the morning with one of our families. Take a look at what Kelly has to say about Jubilee Distance Education.
